Behaviour Approach

Promoting and rewarding good behaviour

We are committed to the modelling and teaching of good behaviour. Staff recognise that lesson content, classroom management  and teaching and learning strategies are all contributory factors to student behaviour. Staff will use various rewards to track and celebrate good behaviour. Positive behaviour will be rewarded with:

  • Verbal praise, a written comment on students’ work, contact home.
  • ARE points; positive points recorded on epraise when students demonstrate our school values – these are tangible and can be spent on the epraise shop
  • Certificates, prizes and celebration assemblies and events
  • Positions of responsibility, such as student leaders

Whitstone School expectations

On a daily basis, students are expected to follow basic expectations to allow them to be successful in school:

  • Arrive on time to school and lessons
  • Show Respect to others and the school environment
  • Come prepared with correct equipment
  • Expect to learn, showing excellence and ambition in their lessons
  • Be smart in their appearance wearing correct school uniform
  • Electronic devices turned off and in bags
  • Take responsibility for their behaviour
