Governance & Financial Information

Whitstone School Academy Trust

Whitstone School Academy Trust is a Single Academy Trust (SAT), we operate as our own charitable company responsible for the governance and strategic direction of Whitstone School. The Trust works in partnership with the Secretary of State for Education through a funding agreement that secures the school’s resources and accountability.

As a Single Academy Trust, Whitstone School benefits from the freedoms associated with academy status, these freedoms enable the Trust to respond effectively to the needs of its students and community.

With this autonomy comes a strong commitment to accountability. The Trust prides itself on maintaining robust systems of oversight, ensuring high standards across all areas of school life. As a charitable company limited by guarantee, the Trust operates with two key layers of governance, Members and Trustees:

Members

Members provide strategic oversight and hold ultimate responsibility for the Trust.

Their key functions include:

  • Ensuring the Trust meets its objectives
  • Attending Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings
  • Appointing members of the Governing Body
  • Approving the Trust’s annual report and financial accounts
  • Amending the Articles of Association and, where necessary, appointing or removing Trustees

Trustees (Governing Body)

The Governing Body, also known as Trustees, is responsible for the day-to-day governance and effective operation of the Trust.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the quality of education provision
  • Monitoring performance and holding school leaders to account
  • Overseeing financial management and the use of resources
  • Managing the Trust’s estate and property
  • Employing and supporting staff

Through this structure, Whitstone School Academy Trust ensures strong leadership, clear accountability, and a continued focus on delivering high quality education for all students.
