Pastoral Support

At Whitstone School we believe that to support the development of our school values of Ambition, Respect and Excellence, students flourish when provided with strong pastoral support.

We understand the importance of a system that students can access during these exciting, yet challenging times at school and one that contributes in creating a safe and enjoyable place for students to thrive. We place great importance on promoting an environment where students feel they belong, are valued and listened to.

Our pastoral system begins from their first moment in school. Students are welcomed into a tutor group, instantly providing a sense of community and belonging. Students see their tutor 2 times a day from 8:40-8:50am and  1:50pm-2:10pm. The tutor is the day-to-day contact point for all students and stands as the primary link between parents and school should any concerns or support be required. Tutors work in teams across each year group and those are led by a Year Leader, with the Assistant Headteacher for Respect overseeing this. The teams are responsible for the academic progress, behaviour and attendance of each student, whilst supporting wellbeing and providing pastoral care.
