House Groups & Aspire System
As each student joins our school community, they are placed into a house group. This house group and their Aspire (tutor) group become their ‘family’ at Whitstone School, helping to enhance the students’ feelings of belonging and safety.
There are four house groups at Whitstone School - Red Kites, Buzzards, Kestrels and Peregrines. Each House is made up of 6 Aspire groups which, unlike other schools contain a mixture of students from different year groups. This is referred to as ‘vertical tutoring’, and aims to encourage older students to mentor the younger ones, fostering a family-like environment whereby everyone feels part of the community.
The Whitstone School house system brings healthy competition, develops positive student attributes and the leaders of tomorrow. Not only do the houses compete in sports, but in behaviour and attitude too. Outstanding work, positive attitudes, effort, helpfulness are all rewarded with EPraise Points and the much coveted ‘Excellent Student’ awards.
