WHY DO WE TEACH THIS COURSE?
Statistics gives students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in a key component of maths that is relevant to everyday life. You'll develop a core statistical grounding, as well as transferable skills and understanding that’s applicable to a range of other subjects including the sciences, Computer Science and Engineering. Mathematical fluency is an important and valuable skill that will help you in any career.
WHAT DOES THE COURSE INVOLVE?
The Statistics GCSE course is divided into units:
Collection of Data
Processing and Representing Data
Summarising Data
Scatter Diagrams and Correlation
Time Series
Probability
Index Numbers
Probability Distributions
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course is 100% exam based. There will be two exams at the end of the year, each worth 50% of your overall grade. Both exams are worth 80 marks, 90 minutes long and a calculator may be used.
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS AFTER GCSE?
